How many does Driftwood Den sleep?

Driftwood Den has a maximum occupancy of 2 people in 1 Double Bed  It is not an option to add a z bed, cot, etc as we are only insured for an occupancy of 2.

Question 2

How do we make a reservation at Driftwood Den?

Accepted Answer

All bookings must be made online through our secure online booking system, it is not possible to make a booking over the phone as our availability is live accross many sites which operate in real time. Please use the website to get the possible rate, noting that if you use an online agency site their rates will be higher due to commission charges incurred by us.   Deposit & Paying the Balance  On making a reservation a deposit of £100 is taken to secure the booking - this is equivalent to the minimum cost of a 1-night stay at the property and is non-refundable, however, it is transferable subject to availability.  The full balance is due 4 weeks before arrival and it is your responsibility to ensure payment is received. Should we not receive the balance your booking will be cancelled and the deposit lost. For bookings made within 4 weeks of arrival, the full balance is payable at the time of booking.   Changing or cancelling your booking.  We always try to be as flexible as possible but please be aware availability may be limited if you need to change your plans, we may be able to offer you alternative room-only accommodation at the Endeavour Pub as we operate both venues.  Please note insurance is offered when booking your stay and you may wish to consider this, you may also be covered if you have annual travel insurance.   More than 4 weeks before arrival  Subject to availability your deposit can be moved to a new booking if you have to change your plans before the full balance is due at 4 weeks.  If you do not wish to make a new reservation this deposit is non-refundable.   Less than 4 weeks to arrival  For cancellations made within 4 weeks before arrival, your full balance will have already been paid. If we can relet the property for your original booking dates the full amount you paid can be moved to a new booking subject to availability, again we may be able to offer room-only accommodation at the Endeavour Pub if there is no suitable availability at Driftwood Den.  Should the booking value be more than your original booking value the difference will be owed at the time of making the new reservation.  No refunds can be made for bookings made to a value at less than the original booking price.

Is there disabled access to Driftwood Den?

Whilst the property is on one level there are a minimum of 15 steps to the property depending on which street you access it from. Please assess the suitability of this property for your needs as it is not possible to park directly outside the property and your luggage will need to be walked up or down these steps. There are also additional steps to the Patio & Garden area.

How far is it to the town centre from Driftwood Den Cottage?

The cottage is located on the East Side of town opposite Parkol Marine Engineering. It is approximately a 10 minute walk to the following land marks along the harbour:  The Endeavour Pub  Whitby Swing Bridge The Cobbles of Church Street  Whitby Market Square Whitby Lifeboat Station Black Dog Beach Tate Hill Beach 199 Steps to the Abbey

Is Driftwood Den Dog Friendly.

We are completely Dog Friendly and you are welcome to bring your dog/s with you at no extra charge. For more than 2 dogs please contact us as due to space and other cottages using the garden this will depend on the size of your dogs!  There is a shared Garden which is perfect for letting your dogs our for their first and last wee! However for the comfort of all residents we ask you to take them to the garden area on a lead and please clear up after them at all times.  Dogs are not permitted on the furniture.  Dog Bowls are provided.  Dogs should not be left unattended in the property at any time, whilst your dog may be ok left at home in familiar surroundings for the comfort of our neighbours we ask you to be with your pets at all times just in case they become unsettled.

Does Driftwood Den have parking?

As with most cottages in Whitby, there is no designated parking, we are located very close to free on-street parking, and full details of this as well as car parks can be found on the directions page.

Question 7

How do we access the property?

Keys are collected from The Endeavour Pub, the staff are on hand during your stay should you have any queries and an emergency number will be provided on arrival.

Question 8

What is arrival and check out time at Driftwood Den?

Accepted Answer

Arrival is from 3pm with check out by 12 noon - after locking up the property you can simply post the keys through the letter box.

Is linen provided at the property?

All bed linen, towels, and 2 tea towels are provided.  Please note these are not replaced for stays less than 8 nights.

Whats provided in the kitchen at Driftwood Den?

Accepted Answer

Tea, Coffee, Sugar & milk for your arrival cuppa!  Salt & Pepper & Cooking Oil. Electric Oven with Hob, Microwave, Toaster, Kettle, Tea Pot, Fridge and small Freezer with Ice Packs and Ice cube trays.  Dishcloth, pan scrubber, Washing up liquid, Surface santizer & handsoap, Bin liners  Crockery, Cutlery, Glassware, Kitchen utensils and various Pots, pans etc for preparing a light meal.  Picnic Hamper and Rug.

What is provided in the Bathroom at Driftwood Den?

Accepted Answer

Electric Shower, Toilet & Basin, Toilet Rolls, hand soap. We do not provide toiletries as we find most guests prefer to bring their favourite brand with them.
